A View of Dehradun

Sahastradhara

Sahastradhara, meaning thousand fold spring, is one of the most popular tourist destinations located in Dehradun in Uttrakhand state of India. It lies on 30.387231 latitude and 78.131606 longitude. The place has magnificent beauty of nature where water drips from the limestone stalactites, making the water abundant in sulpur and thus the place is known for its sulphur springs. It is sulphur water spring of relatively lower temperature than its surroundings.

Sai Darbar Temple

Sai Darbar Temple is a famous pilgrim site and a number of devotees flock to this temple to pay their respects. Set in a tranquil surroundings far away from the hustle and bustle of the capital city of Uttarakhand, this temple has the perfect ambiance that helps to connect with the divine. Made almost entirely out of marble, this temple is open to people from all cast and creed. Walk in here for some moments of divinity, and you might turn lucky if its prayer time. The evening prayers at the temple are something to watch out for, with a swarm of devotees singing hymns in God's praise.

Dehradun Zoo

Formerly known as Malsi Deer Park, the Dehradun Zoo is one of the famous tourist places of Dehradun. It is built on the objectives of ex-situ conservation of wild animals, biodiversity conservation, to develop as an education centre and a Rescue centre for wild animals. Idyllically situated in the serene surroundings of the city, the Dehradun Zoo is one of the best places to visit on the way to Mussoorie. This zoo is developed as a mini-zoological park and offers a resplendent view of the ethereal natural beauty enveloping the area.

Robber's Cave

Robber's Cave (locally known as Guchhupani), located near Sahasradhara (thousand fold spring), is a river cave formation in Himalaya, located approximately 8 km from the centre of Dehradun City in Uttarakhand state of India. The cave is about 600 metres long, divided into two main parts. The cave has a highest fall of about 10 metres. In the central part there is a fort wall structure which is now broken. It consists of an extremely narrow gorge formed in a conglomerate limestone area on Doon Valley's Dehra plateau.

Tapkeshwar

Tapkeshwar is a famous holy temple of Lord Shiva on the bank of seasonal Asan river near Dehradun. Known to have one of the oldest Shivling in the cave, Tapkeshwar Mahadev Temple is located at 6.5 km from Dehradun city. As water droplets continuously drops on the shivling, hence it was named as 'Tapkeshwar'.
